Slack Tasks

Slack tasks let a teammate monitor or respond to a Slack channel.

  1. Connect Slack globally in Type.
  2. Invite the Type app into the Slack channel, or use the relevant slash command in Slack.
  3. Open the teammate’s tasks settings.
  4. Choose the Slack channel.
  5. Decide which Slack messages should trigger the teammate.
ModeUse when
Mentions onlyThe teammate should stay quiet unless someone asks for it.
Channel messagesNew channel posts and @mentions should trigger the teammate, but other follow-up thread replies should not.
Every messageThe teammate owns the channel workflow and should respond proactively to channel posts and thread replies.

Tell the teammate what the channel is for, which messages matter, when to reply in Slack, and when to create or update a Type thread instead.
