Slack
Add Type to Slack when your team already spends most of the day there.
You can map a Slack channel to a channel in a Space. Messages flow into the right Type context, and Type can post updates or respond back in Slack.
Set up a Slack channel
Section titled “Set up a Slack channel”- Connect Slack in Type.
- Invite the Type app into the Slack channel.
- Open Space settings → Automations.
- Choose the Slack channel.
- Choose the Type channel where its work belongs.
- Decide which Slack messages should trigger an AI response.
Choose when Type responds

| Every message | Type should respond across channel posts and thread replies |
Ask Type from Slack
Section titled “Ask Type from Slack”People can mention Type from a connected Slack channel and ask a question in the flow of work.
The response can use the Space’s thread context, memory, skills, and approved connections. For example, someone in a Marketing Slack channel can ask about Shopify products without opening a separate tool or starting from an empty prompt.
To stop an in-progress response, add the 🛑 (:octagonal_sign:) or :stop: reaction to your Slack message or to Type’s reply. Type keeps any partial response, clears the working status, and stops the active run.
AI-generated responses may be inaccurate
Section titled “AI-generated responses may be inaccurate”Type uses a large language model to generate responses. Its responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. Review and verify important information before relying on it or taking action.
Bring the team into Type gradually
Section titled “Bring the team into Type gradually”Slack is often the easiest place to start. Map the channels your team already uses, post useful updates there, and let people ask Type for help.
As the work gets deeper, open the linked thread in Type. The team gets a dedicated place to prompt together, run work in parallel, inspect tool calls, and build documents or apps.
Write channel instructions
Section titled “Write channel instructions”Tell Type what the Slack channel is for, which messages matter, when it should reply in Slack, and when it should create or update a Type thread instead.
