Close and Reopen Threads

Threads can be open or closed. Use open threads for active work. Close a thread when the conversation, task, request, or task result no longer needs action.

Closing a thread does not delete it. The thread remains available from its teammate, ping, Sidekick, search, and other places where the conversation lives.

Close a thread when:

  • The request has been answered.
  • The teammate finished the task.
  • The task result has been reviewed.
  • The conversation no longer needs follow-up.

Closed threads can be hidden from active views so Feed and Triage stay focused on current work.

Reopen a thread when the same work becomes active again. For example, reopen when someone has follow-up context, the teammate needs another instruction, or a closed task result needs more review.

New mentions, replies, or task results can also create new Inbox items for you depending on notification settings, but reopening is a thread action, not an Inbox action.
