Composer
The composer is where you write in threads, Pings, and Sidekick.
What you can add
Section titled “What you can add”- A normal message.
- A mention for a person or connected app.
- A skill.
- Files and images.
- An AI response.
Messages support Markdown. Use $...$ for inline LaTeX and $$...$$ for display math. Escape an ambiguous dollar sign as \$.
Choose the response mode
Section titled “Choose the response mode”The composer uses AI response by default. Type responds with the model, memory, skills, connections, and context available in the Space.
Switch to Team message when you want to talk with coworkers without invoking AI. Switch back when you want Type to respond or take action.
Model, reasoning, and speed
Section titled “Model, reasoning, and speed”When model selection is enabled, a new thread can show harness, model, reasoning, and speed controls.
- Choose Claude or Codex when more than one harness is available.
- The model is pinned to the new thread.
- Reasoning choices depend on the selected model.
- Fast appears only when the model and your provider connection support it.
- Claude Fast uses Anthropic’s premium speed tier.
- Codex Fast requires your connected ChatGPT subscription and uses its Fast credits.
These choices apply to the new thread. Switching channels or resetting the composer starts from the Space defaults. A draft keeps its choices while you stay in the same channel.
You can connect your existing Claude or Codex subscription in account settings. Supported requests can run through that subscription much like they would in a local environment.
Write a useful request
Section titled “Write a useful request”Give Type the outcome, constraints, and relevant context. Attach the smallest useful files or apps. Invoke a skill when a saved workflow already covers the job.
You do not need to restate everything the Space already knows. Its memory, connections, skills, and thread history are part of the context.
