Read, Unread, and Archived

Inbox items can be unread, read, or archived.

Unread items are notifications you have not processed yet. Keep unread for work that still needs your attention.

Read items stay visible but no longer count as new. Mark an item as read when you have seen it but may still want it in the active Inbox list.

You can also mark items unread again when you want them to remain prominent.

Archived items leave the active Inbox view. Archive an item when you are done with the notification and do not need it in your active queue.

Archived is the Inbox equivalent of done. It only clears the Inbox item; it does not close, delete, or reopen the underlying thread.

Use bulk actions when the Inbox is caught up:

  • Mark all as read when you have reviewed the active notifications.
  • Mark items unread when they should stay visible as work to revisit.
  • Archive read items when you want to clear the active queue.
