Type is evolving from standalone agents to Spaces: shared computers where an entire department can work with Claude, Codex, and the tools it already uses.
Type started with a separate agent for every job. As companies grew, that model became hard to follow. Teams needed one shared computer where a department could work with Claude, Codex, and the same context, tools, and permissions.
So we built Spaces. It’s the biggest update we’ve ever shipped.

A shared computer for every department: Create one Space for Sales, Support, Engineering, Marketing, or another durable team. Each Space runs Claude or Codex with that department’s shared tools and context.

Channels keep things organized: Create channels for topics, projects, and workflows without reconnecting tools, copying skills, or rebuilding context.

A shared library: Every Space has its own library of skills, dashboards, and documents. Build a skill once and every conversation in the Space can use it. Dashboards and docs live right next to the work they describe.

Connections scoped to the Space: Add your CRM to Sales and your help desk to Support. AI in each Space gets the tools it needs and nothing more.

Built-in access: Public and private Spaces control who can join the work. Private threads and item-level sharing can narrow or extend access when needed.

Automations attached to channels: Send recurring reports, triage, and monitoring to the channel where the output belongs.
Your existing setup is already in Spaces
Every existing AI has been turned into a Space automatically. Nothing is lost, and everything keeps working.
This is also a good time to clean up. A smaller number of durable Spaces, usually one per department, is easier to navigate than many single-purpose agents.
Merging is built in. Go to the settings of any Space and merge it into another one. You choose how the conversations come over: either as a new channel in the destination Space, or merged directly into its threads.
