Connect Lightfield
Lightfield connects through its official hosted MCP server using Type’s Custom MCP connection flow. It uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1.
Connect your account
Section titled “Connect your account”- Open Settings → Connections and search for Lightfield.
- Open Lightfield. Type fills in
https://mcp.lightfield.app/mcpand selects OAuth. - Choose whether the account is available to your organization or only to you. A shared account can be used by workspace members when the connection’s access settings allow it.
- Select Sign in and complete Lightfield’s consent flow for the account you want Type to use.
- Select Test connection, review the discovered tools, then select Connect with these tools.
- Add the saved connection to the Space connections that need it.
Leave the optional manual sign-in fields blank for automatic setup. If Lightfield requires manual setup, Type shows the Redirect URI to give your service administrator.
You can also select Custom MCP and enter the same server URL, the name Lightfield, and OAuth. Both routes save a Custom MCP connection; tool definitions come from Lightfield during discovery.
Tools and access
Section titled “Tools and access”Lightfield’s official MCP guide lists these tools:
| Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|
get_current_user | Read your user identity and role |
search_lightfield_api_docs | Discover API endpoints and resources |
get_lightfield_api_details | Read detailed endpoint documentation |
read_from_lightfield | Read workspace data |
write_to_lightfield | Create or update workspace records |
Review the actual tools shown in Type before saving. The catalog descriptions do not change Lightfield’s tool definitions or your account’s permissions.
Type’s Read-only setting does not guarantee that changes are blocked at Lightfield. Custom MCP enforcement depends on the calling path and the server’s tool annotations. For read-only use, connect an account whose Lightfield permissions prevent writes. Confirm the account’s access with your Lightfield administrator before sharing it.
To reconnect or refresh the discovered tools, open the saved connection’s details. Complete sign-in if needed, refresh the tools, review them, and save.
